Song info
It seems every once in awhile I’m destined to write a vomit-all-my-thoughts-out song, where I write lyrics furiously, with no regard for obscurity, and chuck ‘em all into a song. This is one of those songs.
Lyrics
And I promised I would love her ’till the end
For bitter or for sweeter. But that ring upon her finger broke
And I set off running once again
Maybe I’m just a ‘commie pinko fag,’ but your world is such a drag
I grew up by the ocean and I love when it speaks, it says
“Hold your ground, there’s nothing left to fear”
So I won’t speak while you’re prayin’ if you won’t pray while I drive
Cos it’s my mad skills and not your angels that are keeping you alive
So long, farewell, my lover is gone
But if I sing this song so loud enough she’ll know what’s wrong
Baby you know I love you but you’re shaking my faith
Sometimes I say I need you just to hear what you’d say
And as much as I believe, I know that’s not how it should be
But when I hold you as you sleep
When you’ve got flowers in your hair
Well they cut down my old rope swing and now
There’s nothing for me there
So long, farewell, my lover is dead
But if I sing this song so loud enough she’ll know what’s wrong
Loud enough she’ll know that I was wrong
I think the answer is in the heart of this wood
But it’s too damn bright - please stop shining your light
Cos it’s thin and it’s yellow and it’s wretched like the skin upon your
bones
Sometimes I believe in love too much
I think my soul is tied to the waves on this ocean
But it’s too damn deep and I don’t walk when I sleep
Cos I’m too busy dreamin’ ’bout the home I left so long ago
There’s nothing for me here now
Cos sometimes I believe in love too much
Lover there’s no sense in getting angry
They’ve got the ring tones to cut right through the best of us
And there’s such a thin line between “avenging angel”
And “wasting all the f***** on this bus”
I hope you’re happy with that total boor of a man
While I would just give you the finger, he’ll use his whole hand
So long, farewell, my lover is gone
But if I sing this song so loud enough she’ll know what’s wrong
All I remember was that river…
